Although Micah Parsons remains sidelined recovering from last season’s knee injury, he continues to voice strong opinions.
On his podcast, The Edge with Micah Parsons, Parsons asserted that quarterback Jayden Daniels bears responsibility for the chaotic clock management at the end of overtime in the Giants‑Commanders matchup.
“Jayden Daniels probably cost my friend Dan Quinn his job,” Parsons said, as reported by Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. He added, “To be honest, I’m a big Jayden Daniels fan, but the reality is his mistake likely jeopardized several positions this past weekend…”.
“All respectfully, we are drilled on these scenarios constantly; as a defensive player, the proper response is ingrained in me. I would never accept a sack with 14 seconds left and no timeouts. Had Daniels been a rookie, the error might be more understandable, but this is his third season—he has appeared in the NFC Championship and faced high‑pressure moments before. Even after a sack, he should be moving with purpose, not casually getting up.”
Parsons emphasized that, in his opinion, a quarterback must always be aware of the game situation.
“This is your responsibility, bro,” Parsons said. “Your job is to be prepared and to understand the game and its situations—that’s in the job description. Saying you might eventually pay him $6 million while this happens is unacceptable. I’m a big JD5 fan, but this mistake is inexcusable.”
Parsons noted that the Packers rehearse situational football daily, and the clock‑management error at the end of the Giants‑Commanders game should not have warranted any discussion.
“This reflects a lack of preparation, mentality, and urgency,” Parsons stated. “Such a lapse simply cannot occur.”
Parsons is not mistaken. The incident raises serious questions about the team’s preparation and attention to detail, pointing to possible cultural shortcomings—perhaps Daniels has not been sufficiently challenged or held accountable, considering his role within the organization.
Having recorded and preserved the relevant communications would clarify the situation, and Daniels will undoubtedly face further scrutiny on this matter when he next addresses reporters.
The bizarre, jarring, and surreal outcome has become a terrible moment for all involved. As Parsons observed, Daniels’s failure to seize control of the situation will likely cost Quinn his job.
Nevertheless, Daniels is expected to retain his starting‑quarterback role, as his mistake concerned a relatively basic aspect of the game while he continues to excel at the more demanding responsibilities compared with most peers.
