AC Milan are considering a move for Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari as the Italian giants look to strengthen their squad, with the Sweden international emerging as one of the club’s midfield targets.
AC Milan ready to test Brighton with January bid for Yasin Ayari
Italian reports claim Milan have been closely monitoring the 22‑year‑old after his impressive performances for Brighton and the Sweden national team. Ayari’s versatility—capable of operating in defensive, central and more advanced roles—makes him an attractive target for the Serie A side.
Brighton are keen to secure the midfielder long‑term. His current contract runs until 2027, with an option for an additional year. Manager Fabian Hurzeler has indicated he wants to keep him at the club.
The Seagulls have already demonstrated that they will not allow Ayari to leave cheaply. A £20 million bid from Nottingham Forest was rejected in January 2026, while recent reports suggest Brighton could now demand in excess of €40 million for the Swedish talent.
Other clubs, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, have also monitored Ayari’s development, heightening the competition Milan may face for his signature.
While a January approach from Milan cannot be ruled out if the Rossoneri decide to accelerate their plans, especially if Ayari’s contract situation remains unresolved, Italian sources currently view a summer move as more likely, with Milan expected to prioritise defensive reinforcements during the winter window.
Nevertheless, Ayari has firmly entered Milan’s thinking, and his performances over the coming months could determine whether the Italian club brings forward its plans and tests Brighton’s resolve with a January offer.
