The lineup for the Great American State Fair’s Freedom 250 celebration, marking 250 years of the USA, has undergone significant changes. Initially announced acts included Milli Vanilli, Morris Day and the Time, C+C Music Factory, Young MC, Bret Michaels, and Flo Rida. However, Morris Day and Young MC have since withdrawn, citing prior commitments. Now, Milli Vanilli has also stepped back from the event.
Jodie Rocco, a vocalist who contributed to Milli Vanilli’s albums *All or Nothing* (1988) and *Girl You Know It’s True* (1989), told *The Associated Press* that she and her sister Linda Rocco were not contacted about the performance. The Rocco sisters previously appeared on *Oprah: Where Are They Now* in 2014 discussing their role as backing vocalists. “It was common practice for producers and record companies to use someone else as a front,” Jodie Rocco stated. “It was a straightforward arrangement.”
Fab Morvan, the remaining figure associated with Milli Vanilli, has not publicly commented. Meanwhile, C+C Music Factory’s Freedom Williams defended the group’s participation via a statement, while Vanilla Ice publicly supported the event in an Instagram video, emphasizing its celebratory nature and urging fans to embrace the nostalgia.
