Morgan Gibbs-White Poised for England Recall as Cole Palmer Withdraws Due to Injury

England are set to bring Morgan Gibbs-White into the squad as a replacement for Cole Palmer, who is expected to withdraw because of a minor injury.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder was initially omitted from the selection for the upcoming Nations League matches but is now in line for a call-up.

Three Lions manager Thomas Tuchel acknowledged that Gibbs-White was near the cutoff for inclusion, and the 26-year-old is anticipated to fill the void left by Chelsea’s Palmer.

Palmer, aged 24, had been recalled by Tuchel following his controversial exclusion from England’s World Cup roster.

Tuchel had previously stated that Palmer had a point to prove and needed to elevate his performance to retain his position and validate his selection.

Nonetheless, the Chelsea forward will now sit out the extended international break, which features four matches for England.

The Three Lions are scheduled to face World Cup champions Spain at Wembley on Saturday, 26 September, before heading to the Czech Republic on 29 September, Croatia on 3 October, and concluding with a home game against the Czechs on 6 October.
