Moscow Strikes Ukrainian Industrial Facilities and Black Sea Cargo Ships

Moscow continues its targeted campaign against Kyiv’s industrial infrastructure, striking numerous facilities across the country.

Russia’s Ministry of Defence has announced that its forces struck multiple industrial sites across Ukraine as part of a sustained offensive targeting Kyiv’s industrial infrastructure.

The ministry reported on Saturday that Russian forces struck the Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal in the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia.

Additionally, the ministry claimed to have struck an Interpipe Steel complex in the central city of Dnipro and several plants in Kryvyi Rih, a southern city and the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The ministry also reported that two cargo vessels were struck overnight in the Black Sea port of Chornomorsk, according to the Interfax news agency.

These strikes followed Ukrainian drone attacks on industrial facilities in Russia’s Samara region, Interfax reported, citing regional Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev.

Russia’s Defence Ministry stated that its forces intercepted 230 Ukrainian drones overnight over more than a dozen Russian regions, as well as over Crimea and the Azov and Black seas.

Ilya Sukhikh, mayor of Togliatti in the Samara region, reported that several residential buildings sustained damage and one person was injured.

In a separate incident, four commercial properties were set ablaze in Taganrog, Rostov region, local Mayor Svetlana Kambulova said, according to the Russian news agency TASS.

Since its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russia has systematically targeted Ukraine’s power grid, defense plants, and logistics hubs to disrupt arms production, impede civilian electricity and heating, and undermine supply networks.

Ukraine has responded with its own aggressive long-range campaign against Russia’s industrial infrastructure, striking dozens of oil refineries to disrupt Russia’s war revenue and cause domestic fuel shortages.

Fatal Strikes in Kyiv

On Friday, at least two individuals were killed in Russian strikes on two petrol stations in Kyiv.

Russia also struck fuel stations in Kyiv on Thursday, indicating a new campaign focused on civilian areas within the capital.

According to regional governors, three people were killed in Russian attacks across southeastern Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions and in the northeast’s Kharkiv.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that a further 12 people, including a 12-year-old boy, were injured in Kyiv.

One person was also killed in the Kyiv region surrounding the capital, the regional governor reported.

Meanwhile, Ukraine conducted drone attacks on Russia, killing one individual in the Kursk region, according to local officials.

In Russia’s Belgorod region, a frequent target of Ukrainian forces, one person died in a Ukrainian drone attack, local officials said. The head of Russian-controlled parts of the eastern Donetsk region reported that two local gas company employees were killed in a separate drone attack.

Local authorities stated that two people were injured in a Ukrainian missile attack on Volgograd, south of Saratov on the Volga River, which struck two residential buildings and damaged an industrial facility, though the facility was not identified.
