Myles Garrett Expected to Miss Approximately Six Weeks After Knee Surgery

The season may be roughly halfway completed before Rams defensive end Myles Garrett returns to action.

Garrett will need about six weeks to recover from his knee surgery, Ian Rapoport reports.

After attempting to play through his knee injury during the Rams’ Week 1 loss to the 49ers, Garrett underwent surgery and was placed on injured reserve. Although the rule requires a minimum four‑week absence for injured‑reserve players, Garrett is expected to be sidelined for a longer period.

The Rams’ Week 9 matchup against the Commanders on November 8 appears to be his earliest probable return, though Garrett is said to be aiming for an earlier comeback.

Garrett participated minimally in training camp and did not see any preseason action while managing what the team described as knee swelling. The injury turned out to be more severe than initially believed, as evidenced by his difficulties in the Week 1 defeat.

The Rams acquired Garrett with the expectation that he would push them toward a Super Bowl championship. While he may still fulfill that role, it will take some time before he can contribute to the team’s success.
