A mysterious floating landmass in a British Columbia reservoir has resurfaced approximately 20 miles (32 kilometers) from its previously recorded position, after appearing to disappear entirely in July.

The organization responsible for managing the reservoir initially dismissed reports of the sighting, suspecting a prank or false report.

BBC Verify employed satellite imagery to trace the object’s movement and investigated the factors that enabled it to travel such a considerable distance, as detailed in a report by Jake Horton.
