Mystikal Sentenced to 20 Years for 2022 Rape Conviction]

Rapper Mystikal has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2022 rape of a woman at his Louisiana residence, according to Associated Press. The artist, whose real name is Michael Lawrence Tyler, pleaded guilty to third-degree rape in March as part of a plea agreement that spared him from Louisiana’s mandatory life sentence for first-degree rape. He has remained in custody without bond since his 2022 grand jury indictment on charges including first-degree rape, criminal damage to property, false imprisonment, domestic abuse, simple robbery, and drug possession.

The victim testified during a jury trial about being physically assaulted, choked, and forcibly raped by Tyler at his home near Baton Rouge. She requested the maximum 25-year sentence from the court.

Tyler’s criminal history includes a six-year prison term beginning in 2004 for sexual assault and extortion, along with a three-month incarceration in 2012 for misdemeanor domestic abuse. Additionally, he faced rape and kidnapping charges in 2017 that were later dismissed.
