NASA will host an International Observe the Moon Night celebration from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. CST on Saturday, September 19, at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, the official visitor center for NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
The International Observe the Moon Night celebration honors the Moon’s scientific significance and its role in space exploration and human culture. NASA’s free public event will feature expert talks on lunar science and exploration, including observations made by the Artemis II crew in April.
Media wishing to cover the event are requested to confirm attendance with NASA Marshall by 3 p.m. CST on Friday, September 18. Participants must report to the Davidson Center, and visitor parking is available at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
Media will have opportunities to capture visuals and interview NASA experts. Coverage activities include hands-on STEM experiences, a science stage show, an event photo booth, and face-painting.
The event will feature Janet Ivey, host of the children’s series ‘Janet’s Planet,’ and the Von Braun Astronomical Society, which will provide on-site telescope guidance for tours of the Moon, planets, and other celestial objects.
The evening’s presentations are hosted by the Planetary Missions Program Office at NASA Marshall.
