The Orbital Clarity Challenge, the sixth iteration of the NASA TechLeap Prize series, is a joint initiative of NASA’s Heliophysics Division, the Flight Opportunities program, and the Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovation. The challenge seeks innovative, low‑cost methods for measuring thermospheric density, pressure, or drag in low Earth orbit, and NASA aims to develop affordable, scalable solutions that can be produced in volume and flown as hosted payloads on commercial spacecraft.
The competition will be conducted in three phases, with registration closing on October 28, 2026 and submissions due by November 11, 2026. Up to four winning teams will share a total prize pool of $500,000, advancing their concepts to a flight‑ready solution within 12 months, and each receiving a complimentary test flight.
