As part of celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary, NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center has adorned two of its most renowned aircraft—the F-15 and F/A-18—with patriotic red, white, and blue paint schemes. The aircraft will participate in a July 4, 2026, flyover in Washington, D.C., alongside other NASA planes.

The special livery, featuring the “Freedom 250” logo, serves as both a tribute to the nation’s history and a forward-looking salute to its future. These commemorative designs will remain on the aircraft for at least the next year, offering opportunities for public viewing at select aviation events.

The repainted aircraft are scheduled to appear at the following events:

  • July 23-24: EAA AirVenture, Oshkosh, Wisconsin
  • Oct. 3-4: Pacific Airshow, Huntington Beach, California
  • Additional events to be announced
