Nashville International Airport is set to be renamed in tribute to the beloved singer Dolly Parton, according to News Channel 5 of Nashville. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced the decision late last month, and the Airport Authority board has since voted unanimously to approve the change. The initiative was already in motion before Parton’s passing at age 80, and the final name has not yet been disclosed. To move forward, the authority updated a policy that previously required a two‑year waiting period after a person’s death before an airport could be named after them. The airport will keep its three‑letter code, BNA, which originates from one of its original builders, Col. Harry S. Berry. Additionally, Parton will receive a posthumous honor from the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce next week.
