NBC reported that three of its staff were interviewing 51‑year‑old Aida Ahmed Abdullah, who said she and her family had been forced from their home by settlers.
During the interview, a car pulled up with several masked men inside, one of whom leaned out of the window. NBC video of the incident showed the masked men assaulting another vehicle with a stick and also captured the person filming.
NBC international correspondent Matt Bradley reported that he was struck twice in the arm, saying the assailants “jumped out, beat us, then retreated to the car.”
Other reported victims included an NBC cameraman, producer Lawahez Jabari, and Abdullah herself, who was hospitalized with non‑life‑threatening injuries.
Jabari said the attackers were armed with a gun but did not fire it.
In a press release, the council called on Israel to identify the perpetrators and bring them to trial.
“Harming journalists violates the public’s right to know, and any attempt to terrorize reporting teams with violence must be met with zero tolerance and punished to the fullest extent of the law,” the council said.
