NC State University announced the departure of head coach Dave Doeren Saturday evening, following a 3-4 start to the season and a 31-28 loss to Stanford on Friday night.

Boo Corrigan, Director of Athletics, released a statement acknowledging Doeren’s contributions during his 14-year tenure with the Wolfpack.

“I want to thank Coach Doeren for his service and contributions to NC State, and for always representing the university with pride,” said Corrigan. “I appreciate his leadership during his 14-year tenure and the passion he brought to this role. We wish Dave, Sara and his family the best in the future.”

Todd Goebbel, running backs coach and special teams coordinator, will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the regular season.

Doeren was hired by NC State in 2013 after a two-year stint as head coach at Northern Illinois, and his tenure concluded with a 121-78 overall record, including a 5-6 bowl record.
