Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed for Washington on Monday to engage in discussions with US President Donald Trump, Anadolu reports.
Following an invitation from President Trump, Netanyahu’s visit aims to address various matters of strategic importance to both Israel and the United States, according to official communications from the Israel in Arabic account on X.
On Sunday, the Israeli Prime Minister confirmed his intention to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York, despite recent legal challenges raised by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Mayor Mamdani previously characterized Netanyahu as a “war criminal” and pressured the US administration to uphold International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants should the Prime Minister enter American territory.
However, President Trump has explicitly stated that Netanyahu “will not be arrested” during his visit to the United States.
In November 2024, the ICC issued arrest warrants for both Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant regarding allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
