Netflix has released the first trailer for its forthcoming thriller Unabomber, starring Jacob Tremblay. The cast also includes Russell Crowe, Shailene Woodley, Annabelle Wallis, Alexander Ludwig, Steven Ogg, and Marc Menchaca, with Janusz Metz directing.
The film traces Ted Kaczynski’s journey, portrayed by Tremblay, from a 16‑year‑old Harvard student to the notorious Unabomber. After enduring controversial psychological experiments overseen by Professor Henry Murray (played by Crowe), Kaczynski’s troubled past resurfaces years later, when FBI agent Joanne Miller (Woodley) leads the manhunt that uncovers the haunting fallout of ambition and isolation.
The screenplay was written by Sam Chalsen and Nelson Greaves.
Executive producers are Nelson Greaves, Donald J. Lee, and Sam Chalsen, in partnership with MRC, while Sophie Cassidy produces for 2.0 Entertainment. Unabomber premieres on Netflix on September 25.
Early reactions to the trailer suggest a David Fincher–style atmosphere, and insiders indicate that Netflix views the film as a major fall release.
