Netflix leveraged its presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Wednesday to showcase a lineup of high‑profile projects, starting with a first look at Brad Bird’s Ray Gunn and new details on its upcoming Ghostbusters animated series.
Ray Gunn is a noir science‑fiction film in the works of Brad Bird, set to debut worldwide on Netflix on December 18. The story unfolds in an alternate 1939 Metropia and follows private eye Raymond Gunn as he investigates a case involving aliens, murder, and a multimedia star named Venus Nova. The voice cast features Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, and Tom Waits; Skydance Animation is producing. Netflix presented new images and concept art for the film during the event.

Directed by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, with Reitman, Kenan and Dan Aykroyd serving as executive producers, the series promises a gritty, retro aesthetic combined with franchise‑specific humor and supernatural scares. It is slated for a 2027 release.
