New Launch Opportunities Announced for NASA’s PolSIR and TSIS-2 Missions
NASA has chosen Rocket Lab to launch key scientific instruments for both the PolSIR and TSIS-2 missions. The selections are part of the agency’s Venture-Class Acquisition of Dedicated and Rideshare (VADR) contract, enabling a flexible, long-term launch solution. Rocket Lab will deploy two small satellites: PolSIR and TSIS-2, designed to advance our understanding of polar and solar climate dynamics.
TSIS-2 will monitor solar energy reaching Earth, contributing vital data on ocean currents, seasonal changes, and weather patterns. Meanwhile, PolSIR will study tropical and subtropical ice clouds, helping improve weather predictions by observing atmospheric conditions over extended periods. These missions underscore NASA’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology for scientific discovery.
