The New York Giants are securing one of their recent offseason acquisitions following strong performance through the first six games.
Cornerback Greg Newsome II has agreed to a three-year, $46 million contract extension with the team, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday. The deal includes $32 million guaranteed.
Newsome II, 26, joined the Giants on a one-year, $8 million contract during the offseason after spending last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He has been a steady presence and helped stabilize the cornerback position alongside a resurgent Deonte Banks.
Newsome II has 25 tackles, one interception and six passes defended in his six appearances. He missed the win over the Texans with an injury.
