New Zealand has announced a 16‑player squad that will travel to the Caribbean for a five‑match ODI series against the West Indies, starting on 12 July in Providence, Guyana.

The squad, close to full strength, will be captained by all‑rounder Mitchell Santner, who recently contributed to the Test side’s 2‑1 victory over England. The 50‑over contingent also includes Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Ben Sears, Nathan Smith and Will Young.

Returning to the side are first‑choice players Jacob Duffy, who was absent from the England series due to paternity leave, as well as Michael Bracewell and Mark Chapman.

New addition Matthew Fisher has been selected and is expected to make his ODI debut for New Zealand. The 26‑year‑old fast bowler has appeared once each in Test and T20I cricket but has yet to play a 50‑over match.

Although several senior players return, the Kiwis will be missing key bowlers — Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson and Will O’Rourke — who have been rested to manage their workloads after a demanding Test series against England.

Opening batsmen Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra will be absent. Conway is taking a break following the birth of his second child and will return home to be with his family, while Ravindra is unavailable because of his commitments in Major League Cricket, as stipulated in his national contract.

Mitchell Hay, with ten ODI appearances, has been named as the backup wicket‑keeper behind Test captain Tom Latham.

New Zealand enter the series after a recent defeat to Bangladesh in their last ODI.
