Newcastle United are looking to bolster their attack by signing former Barcelona winger Abde Ezzalzouli.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that the Magpies turned their attention to the 23‑year‑old after failing to secure Victor Muñoz, who recently completed a move to Liverpool.
Muñoz, a versatile winger who has impressed for Real Betis, was a primary target for Newcastle this summer, but the deal fell through.
Abde, who can operate on either flank, offers the ability to create chances and contribute goals, making him an attractive alternative.
Sources in Spain suggest the fee for Abde could be around £52 million, raising questions about whether the club can justify the outlay given other areas needing reinforcement.
Betis reportedly valued Muñoz at €40 million, so a £52 million price tag for Abde may stretch Newcastle’s budget.
The prospect of playing in the Premier League will be a new challenge for the former Barcelona academy product, who has demonstrated his quality in Spain.
Last season the Real Betis attacker recorded 15 goals and 13 assists across all competitions. With further development under Newcastle’s coaching staff, he could quickly become a key figure in the squad.
