Matias Soule is reportedly set to depart AS Roma this summer.

Sunderland have expressed interest in the 23‑year‑old forward, but Newcastle United are also in the hunt, according to TEAMtalk. Roma are aiming to bolster their attack this window and may need to offload players to finance the move.

Soule could be an attractive addition for either side. He is capable of creating chances and scoring goals. Still young, he possesses considerable upside and could evolve into a key Premier League contributor.

Newcastle have moved on several players this summer and are looking to upgrade their squad. Having not yet found a proper replacement for Anthony Gordon, bringing in Soule would be a sensible option.

Conversely, Sunderland enjoyed a strong campaign after their promotion last season, securing European qualification and now seeking squad depth to compete on multiple fronts.

The Black Cats are evaluating various attacking targets, and it remains unclear which player they will ultimately secure.

Roma are unlikely to part with Soule cheaply, meaning the English clubs will likely need to meet a premium asking price. A transfer to the Premier League would represent an exciting step for the South American, offering him a chance to showcase his talent at a higher level. Strong performances for Newcastle or Sunderland could open doors to an even bigger club down the line.
