Newcastle United has invited Jean Keegan, Kevin’s wife, and their family to attend the fixture alongside a host of the club’s former stars. Alan Shearer, Faustino Asprilla, David Ginola, Les Ferdinand, and other squad members from Keegan’s managerial spells are also present for the occasion.
A minute’s applause is scheduled to take place before kick-off, with both sets of players participating, while Keegan features on the front cover of the matchday programme. In a private ceremony, delegates from Newcastle and Liverpool—including Shola Ameobi and Bob Moncur representing the Tyneside club—are expected to lay wreaths in the stadium’s memorial garden.
The club also opened books of condolence for supporters to sign, supplemented by a digital version for those unable to attend St James’ Park. Memorabilia left at the memorial will be divided between Keegan’s family and the club’s archive for future tributes, while the floral tributes placed outside the ground have been composted and spread across the training pitches.
With the match kicking off at 4:30 pm BST (11:30 am ET), Newcastle has urged supporters to arrive earlier than usual to ensure they can witness the full slate of planned commemorations.
