[Potential Champions Emerge to Challenge Chad Gable for the Intercontinental Title]

Chad Gable became WWE Intercontinental Champion at SummerSlam, defeating Penta to win the gold and close the chapter on his feud with luchadores.

With Gable recently defending his gold against Rey Mysterio, there have been some rumors swirling about the champion’s future rivalries, and his eventual title loss.

From up-and-coming stars to former title holders, any of these stars could be the one to dethrone Chad Gable in the coming months.

Here are five stars who could be the next Intercontinental Champion after Chad Gable.

Bronson Reed

At Sunday Night Main Event, Reed returned to WWE by attacking Oba Fimi during Femi’s match versus Bron Breakker.

Having been held off television for six months due to injury, WWE now seeks to re-establish Reed as the dominant singles star of The Vision.

With Bron Breakker and Austin Theory holding the World Tag Team Championships and Logan Paul sidelined, Reed must provide the faction with renewed individual strength.

Reed has yet to capture a championship on the main roster, making the Intercontinental Title the likely first prize he wins on Raw.

Dragon Lee

When he joined WWE in 2022, Rey Mysterio praised Lee as the future face of lucha libre.

The former world tag team champion has become a consistent presence on Raw, though he remains without a main roster singles title.

Lee reached the semifinals of recent world heavyweight contender tournaments before falling to Fenex; he was the sole Raw star to surpass Penta, who emerged victorious.

Expectations are building as Lee prepares to challenge Gable during WWE’s upcoming tour of South America, which may soon transition to televised specials, allowing the luchador to showcase his ambitions publicly.

Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio defended the AAA Mega Championship at Triplemanía 34, after which Dirty Dom could walk away from the event without a title.

Should he finish Monday without a belt, he stands ready to confront Chad Gable en route to reclaim the Intercontinental Championship.

Their previous encounters have included a loss to Gable and Penta on the August 3 Raw episode, as well as duels at non‑televised house shows earlier that month.

With Rey Mysterio’s recent defeat, dominik would benefit doubly if he were able to claim his very first WWE champion status.

Je’Von Evans

Johnathan ‘Je’Von Evans has frequently stated his aim is to become the youngest Intercontinental Champion in WWE history.

Building on Jeff Hardy’s achievement—who won the IC title at age twenty‑three in April 2001—Evans has roughly a full year to realize his own milestone.

Given his proximity to the Intercontinental scene, a forthcoming clash should see Evans dismantle Gable and step into the role of WWE’s next triple‑time champion.

Ethan Page

Signed to the WWE main roster in April, Ethan Page has occupied the Intercontinental title picture almost continuously.

Page successfully pinned former champion Penta during the May 4 Raw broadcast and challenged for the crown at the May 23 Saturday Night’s Main Event, ultimately failing to win.

Over thirteen attempts at the title across various house shows, including bouts against past holders and Chad Gable himself, Page remains a lock for the gold with WWE clearly invested in his career progression.
