The NFL announced Tuesday that Dallas Cowboys defensive end Charles Snowden has been suspended for the first three games of the 2026 regular season.
According to the NFL Network, the disciplinary action stems from a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.
The 28-year-old Snowden was arrested in December 2024 while playing for the Las Vegas Raiders. Following an incident in which he was discovered asleep in his SUV with a blood-alcohol level more than double the legal limit, he was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence. Although he initially pleaded not guilty, Snowden entered a no-contest plea in January. Under his plea agreement, which includes a $1,000 fine and mandatory enrollment in DUI and coroner’s courses, the charge will be reduced to reckless driving.
Snowden joins the Cowboys following a season with the Raiders, where he appeared in 15 games and earned nine starts. During that campaign, he recorded 28 tackles, three sacks, five tackles for loss, two passes defended, and one interception.
Over his career, which includes stints with the Chicago Bears and the Raiders, Snowden has amassed 67 tackles, 4.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, six passes defended, and one interception across 33 games. He also spent time on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad in 2022.
After being waived by the Raiders in May, Snowden signed a one-year, $1.1 million contract with Dallas on June 18.
The suspension will officially begin once rosters are trimmed to the 53-player limit, allowing Snowden to participate in all preseason activities, including training camp and exhibition games.
The Cowboys’ season kicks off on September 13 against the New York Giants, followed by a home matchup against the Washington Commanders on September 20. The team will then travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to face the Baltimore Ravens on September 27.
