NJPW has confirmed a NEVER Openweight Championship match for King of Pro Wrestling 2026, scheduled for next month. The promotion announced Friday that Aaron Wolf will defend his title against Kosei Fujita.
The matchup follows Fujita’s pinfall victory over Wolf in a tag team match during NJPW’s Road to Destruction tour. Fujita and Ryohei Oiwa faced Wolf and Taichi in the contest.
Describing the buildup, NJPW stated:
“What started as a war of words at the G1 semifinal night in August saw Fujita hurl ever more insulting verbal barbs at Wolf, leading to an enraged NEVER Champion engaging in a pull apart brawl on September 9 in Korakuen. The next night’s main event saw Fujita rear back with a brutal skull to skull headbutt on Wolf before a massive deadlift German suplex saw the Best of the Super Jr. winner score the pinfall victory.”

IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match: Yota Tsuji vs. Ryohei Oiwa.
NEVER Openweight Championship Match: Aaron Wolf vs. Kosei Fujita.
