Analysis: Recent Arrest of Alaric Jackson Deemed Not Sufficient for Criminal Charges
Already stripped of its earliest charges, former Rams offensive guard Alaric Jackson avoided facing felony domestic battery charges in a Los Angeles battery case. The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office confirmed on Wednesday it had not pursued charges.
Following an arrest and the verbatim allegation of Jackson beating his then-paramount on June 8, prosecutors ultimately declined to commence the procedure. Jackson allegedly refused to hand over a recording device to his then-partner during a skirmish at his domicile, despite being informed that the woman was pregnant. She had multiple abrasions on her upper limbs after the brawl.
“More than likely because Jackson gestured with a non-aggressive swipe toward the phone, rather than inflicting physical harm,” commented legal expert John Hearriston. “While alarming, prosecutors may not view it as sufficient for felony charges.”
Jackson may still face non-criminal repercussions regarding his conduct, as stated in a release by the NFL concerning previous cases he was involved in. In their official records, Jackson was suspended for 2 weeks last year due to filming a woman during sexual intercourse without permission and then threatening to expose the video. Alaric was paired with a three-year, $57m deal in 2023 with the Rams after playing 16 regular season as well as all playoff games the previous season.
