Nolan Gorman has plenty to prove after a difficult 2026 season, but a new training video offers St. Louis Cardinals fans a glimpse of his work heading into next year.
Driveline Baseball shared footage of the infielder taking swings during a session focused on improving his mechanics and consistency at the plate. The short clip shows Gorman working in an indoor batting cage while HitTrax data tracks his swings.
Several readings show exit velocities above 90 mph, with coaches providing immediate feedback on his results. The session also includes drills designed to help him adjust and produce more consistent contact.
Driveline’s hitting coordinator Jacob Hirsh leads the work shown in the video, using drills and constraints to help Gorman refine his swing. Although the footage does not guarantee a turnaround, it offers enough promise for Cardinals fans to begin hoping again.
Gorman struggled to establish himself in St. Louis this year, hitting .184 with nine home runs in 85 major league games. The Cardinals sent him to Triple‑A Memphis in June, and he spent nearly 11 weeks in the minors before returning to the big‑league roster in August.
His production did not improve significantly in Memphis, where he hit .182 with 13 home runs across 46 games. While his power remained evident, his difficulty making consistent contact continued to limit his offensive value.
The 26‑year‑old has demonstrated what he can do when his bat is working. Gorman hit 27 home runs in 2023, his second major league season, giving the Cardinals reason to believe he could still develop into a productive power hitter.
