Earlier this month, Bill Belichick led North Carolina to a significant victory over an undefeated Pittsburgh team. On Saturday night, the Tar Heels came remarkably close to achieving an even more impressive win.

North Carolina maintained a competitive edge throughout the game against top-ranked Miami, but ultimately fell short with a score of 38-35.

In a desperate attempt to regain possession late in the game, North Carolina recovered two onside kicks after narrowing the deficit to three points. However, the first recovery was invalidated by an offside penalty, and the second was nullified due to an illegal block.

The Tar Heels held a 28-24 lead entering the fourth quarter. Miami then scored two touchdowns, the second coming after a North Carolina turnover, which gave the Hurricanes a 10-point advantage. This forced UNC to score a touchdown and attempt a successful onside kick to stay in the game.

Following their initial 4-2 start, North Carolina’s record now stands at 4-4. In his second season at the helm, Bill Belichick has an overall record of 8-12.
