Michael Olise has cemented his reputation as a world-class playmaker through his performances with Bayern Munich and the France national team at the 2026 World Cup. However, his long-term future at the Bavarian club has become uncertain amid reports that Kylian Mbappé is actively encouraging him to join Real Madrid.
German outlet Sports Bild states that Olise has expressed a desire to move to Real Madrid this summer, reportedly discussing the possibility with his France teammates during the World Cup. Mbappé has allegedly taken a leading role in advocating for the transfer, citing both their personal bond and their proven chemistry on the pitch.
Despite the push, Real Madrid has yet to formally contact Olise or his representatives. This aligns with a mutual understanding between Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez and Bayern Munich chief Herbert Hainer, established in June, which stipulates that both clubs will notify each other before initiating transfer negotiations for players under contract.

Bayern remains in a strong position to retain Olise. In March, club board member Max Eberl emphasized: “Michael has a contract with us until 2029, without a release clause—we are relaxed.”
Olise’s standout World Cup performances have elevated his market value to €170 million ($194M). At 24 and under contract until 2029, his potential transfer would likely command a record fee, complicating Real Madrid’s pursuit.
Olise and Mbappé: A Proven Partnership
Their on-field synergy was evident at the 2026 World Cup, where Olise recorded seven assists—the most in a single FIFA tournament. Five of those assists directly led to goals by Mbappé, with whom he shares six of his 10 international assists for France.
Real Madrid’s attack, anchored by Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, has yet to fully click. Integrating Olise into a central playmaking role could provide the necessary creativity to elevate their offensive intensity.
