The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, known as OPEC+, decided on Sunday to maintain their current oil production policy for October. The group postponed any further adjustments pending an agreement on new baseline quotas for its members.

Last month, the alliance finalized a planned output increase for September, concluding a phased unwinding of the 1.65 million barrel-per-day supply reduction originally implemented in 2023. Despite these scheduled increments, actual production across the coalition remains significantly below target levels, largely due to disruptions stemming from ongoing conflict.

Markets responded modestly to the status-quo decision. At the time of publication, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were trading 0.87% higher on the day at $92.57 per barrel.
