Security forces have eliminated three additional terrorists during Operation Shaban in Balochistan, bringing the total fatalities in the operation to 67, as reported by state broadcaster PTV News.
The joint operation, involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and Balochistan Police, targets militants responsible for a July 7 attack in the Mangi Dam area that resulted in multiple police casualties.
PTV News reported that aerial and ground offensives are focused on Fitna-al-Khawarij, the state-designated alias for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan faction.
Earlier updates indicated 105 terrorists had been killed in Balochistan since July 5 through coordinated intelligence and military actions.
Initial clashes erupted when terrorists opened fire on a police post at Mangi Dam pumping station, killing nine officers and capturing 18 others before their deaths in the Zarghoon Gar region.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended security forces for their role in counter-terrorism efforts, stating, “This action safeguards national security—terrorism has no place in Pakistan,” as per PTV News.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated national resolve at a recent Quetta meeting, declaring, “Civil and military leaders have jointly committed to eradicating terrorism,” according to ISPR reports.
