Oregon’s football campaign has not unfolded as initially anticipated, yet the Ducks remain in the College Football Playoff rankings. The team holds a 5‑3 overall record and a 3‑2 mark in the Big Ten Conference.

Oregon entered the inaugural CFP poll at No. 23, announced live on ESPN on Tuesday. While the Ducks find themselves on the periphery of the current 12‑team playoff format, the expanded 24‑team structure is expected to be implemented next season.

Fresh off a morale‑boosting victory over Northwestern, the No. 23 Ducks travel to face No. 12 Ohio State (6‑2, 4‑1) on Saturday. This contest was originally projected to feature the top two preseason AP‑ranked teams.

However, Ohio State is currently struggling, having suffered a road defeat to No. 20 USC amid an unpredictable season.

Additional Big Ten representatives in this week’s CFP rankings are No. 19 Iowa, No. 8 UCLA, and No. 4 Indiana.
