New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson disclosed Friday that he has spent several days hospitalized while doctors investigate the cause of unexplained neurological symptoms affecting his strength and coordination.
In a detailed Instagram post, Henderson said test results have been “reassuring” but the underlying cause of his condition remains undetermined.
“I will continue working closely with my specialists and physical therapists to focus on my recovery, as these symptoms have affected my strength, coordination and some of my physical functions,” Henderson wrote. “I am committed to doing everything necessary to return to full health. My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities.”
The 24-year-old has not practiced since Oct. 29, when he was listed with an illness, and was ruled out of New England’s 24-19 victory over Miami on Sunday. In six games this season, the second-year pro has been limited to 203 rushing yards and a touchdown, plus 45 receiving yards — a significant decline from his rookie campaign, when he totaled 1,131 yards from scrimmage (911 rushing) and 10 touchdowns.
The Patriots (5-3) host Green Bay (5-3) on Sunday.
Henderson expressed gratitude to his wife, medical team, and the Patriots organization for their support. He closed his message by requesting continued prayers and privacy as he focuses on his health and recovery.
