Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs faces misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property charges, yet head coach Matt LaFleur expects the player to stay with the team.
LaFleur said, “I fully expect him to be a member of our team,” following Friday night’s preseason finale.
When asked about the ongoing court proceedings, LaFleur noted that the organization will respect the legal process while maintaining confidence that Jacobs will remain part of the roster.
He added, “We need to let everything unfold, but I anticipate him being on our football team.”
Since the accuser is Jacobs’s girlfriend, the NFL may follow its standard domestic‑violence protocol, which could place him on paid leave during the investigation and impose a six‑game suspension if a finding of guilt occurs. This could sideline him for a substantial portion of the season, and LaFleur said he is uncertain whether Jacobs will be available for Week One.
“I can’t really comment on that, because I don’t know,” LaFleur said.
