Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been charged with five criminal offenses, including strangulation, suffocation, domestic battery, property damage, disorderly conduct, and intimidation of a victim, after police responded to a disturbance complaint over the weekend.
Hobart/Lawrence (Wisconsin) Police Chief Michael Renkas confirmed that Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday and booked into Brown County Jail on the aforementioned charges.
Renkas noted that officers were dispatched to the scene at 8:37 a.m. on Saturday following a complaint involving Jacobs.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” Renkas said in a statement. “No further information will be released at this time.”
Jacobs’ attorneys—David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac—issued a joint statement denying the allegations and emphasizing that the investigation is in its early stages, with key evidence not yet public. They requested fairness and restraint while the legal process proceeds.
Jacobs is the Packers’ leading returning rusher, having recorded 929 yards and 13 touchdowns last season, following a 2024 campaign with 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns that earned him a third Pro Bowl selection.
The Packers began organized team activities on Tuesday, and head coach Matt LaFleur is scheduled for media availability on Wednesday.
“We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs,” a Packers spokesperson said. “As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment.”
NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said the league is aware of the report and has been in contact with the club.
Jacobs spent his first five seasons with the Raiders, earning All‑Pro honors and leading the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards in 2022.
