Pakistan Offers Full‑Spectrum Collaboration with Iran, Says Interior Minister Naqvi

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that Pakistan is prepared to cooperate with Iran across all sectors.

His comments came during a meeting with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, who is on an official visit to Pakistan.

A well‑dressed contingent of the Federal Constabulary rendered a guard of honour to the visiting minister upon his arrival, per the interior ministry’s statement.

The ministry reported that the ministers began with bilateral talks and then proceeded to delegation‑level discussions.

They reviewed bilateral relations, trade, regional developments, and potential areas for cooperation.

The interior ministry said both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation on counter‑terrorism, counter‑narcotics, combating illegal immigration, and addressing human trafficking.

The ministers underscored the importance of joint actions to curb drug smuggling and terrorism emanating from the Afghan border, and pledged to enhance coordination among their respective institutions.

Naqvi was quoted as saying, “Pakistan is ready to expand cooperation with Iran in all fields.”

He also commended Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Momeni for their “extraordinary efforts toward peace.”

“I hope good news will arrive shortly and peace will be established,” he added.

Momeni arrived in Pakistan on Monday night for an official visit. On Tuesday, he met Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at GHQ in Rawalpindi, where they discussed mutual interests, regional and bilateral security, and effective border management, according to Inter‑Services Public Relations.

He also met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who voiced concern over the escalation in the Middle East and reaffirmed Pakistan’s willingness to act as an “honest and sincere mediator and facilitator” for regional peace.

Momeni’s visit coincides with Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to salvage the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last month between the United States and Iran, aimed at ending the conflict that erupted following US‑Israeli attacks on Iran in late February.
