The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will remain closed on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, following the federal government’s official declaration of a public holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).
The Cabinet Division declared the nationwide public holiday after receiving approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This decision followed the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s determination that the moon for Rabi-ul-Awwal was not sighted last week, officially fixing the observance of Eid Milad-un-Nabi for August 26.
In a notice issued on Friday, the Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited notified TRE Certificate Holders, its staff, and other concerned parties about the upcoming trading halt. The exchange confirmed that full market closure will take place on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi ul Awal).
The religious occasion is observed on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
