November 03, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) recorded an all‑time high monthly increase of 25,747 new investors in October 2026, a 66 % year‑on‑year rise that pushed the total investor base to a record 681,965, up 56 % YoY. October’s addition eclipsed the prior monthly record of 25,281 set in September 2026.
Khurram Schehzad, Advisor to the Finance Minister, posted the figures on X, highlighting the rapid growth. He noted that during the first ten months of 2026 (January‑October), PSX attracted 218,894 net new investors—more than the combined net additions seen in the previous four full calendar years (2022‑2025). This total also closely matches the investor additions from the prior five years (2021‑2025).
Since June 2022, the PSX has added roughly 406,995 net new investors, representing a 148 % expansion from the then‑existing base of 274,970. Around 85 % of these new participants are Gen Z and Millennials, underscoring the younger generation’s increasing involvement in Pakistan’s capital markets.
The sustained surge signals growing confidence in Pakistan’s economic stabilization, improving macroeconomic fundamentals, sound policy direction, and long‑term capital‑market prospects. It also reinforces the Ministry of Finance’s broader agenda to democratize savings and investments, expand retail access, strengthen financial inclusion, and deepen domestic capital markets—helping channel household savings into productive investment and durable economic growth.
