The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) benchmark index opened the week on a strong note, rising more than 4,000 points in early trading.

By 9:50 am, the KSE‑100 had climbed 4,501.33 points to 175,522.53, up from the previous close of 171,021.20.

Financial portal Mettis Global said the rally was driven by easing geopolitical tensions and a sharp drop in global oil prices, which boosted investor sentiment.

The improvement follows Iran and the United States refraining from strikes on Monday, providing relief to Gulf shipping and the oil sector, as President Trump’s UN envoy indicated he was “giving talks some space”.

Oil prices fell on Monday as investors welcomed the lull in hostilities. Brent crude slipped more than 7 % early, briefly falling below $90 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate was down 4 % at $85.45.

The market had been under pressure last week, with the KSE‑100 losing 2.7 % as heightened Middle‑East tensions, rising oil prices and cautious sentiment weighed on investors.

Concerns over the escalating US‑Iran conflict caused the KSE‑100 to drop 4,782 points to 171,021.20, despite positive domestic developments such as a sovereign credit‑rating upgrade for Pakistan.
