September 10, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan’s benchmark KSE-100 Index tumbled 3,078.55 points or 1.79% on Thursday to close at 168,865.04, as a sharp rise in oil prices and intensifying tensions in the Middle East triggered broad-based selling at the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
Oil prices extended their gains above $101 a barrel on Thursday as escalating tensions in the Middle East heightened concerns over further disruptions to global crude supplies, adding to pressure on investor sentiment and risk appetite.
The index remained highly volatile during the session, trading in a range of 3,474.05 points. It hit an intraday high of 171,945.83, gaining 2.24 points, while the low stood at 168,471.78, down 3,471.81 points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index stood at 261.33 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies, only 3 closed up, 96 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged.
SSGC (-6.53%), KTML (-6.37%), PIBTL (-5.91%), JVDC (-5.48%), and GAL (-5.30%) were the top losers.
Among the gainers, PSEL (+1.53%), ATLH (+0.19%), KOHC (+0.13%) closed higher.
In terms of index-point contributions, MEBL (-317.82pts), FFC (-253.72pts), PPL (-159.31pts), OGDC (-143.21pts), and HUBC (-129.72pts) were the biggest drags on the benchmark.
Meanwhile, PSEL (+18.04pts), ATLH (+1.33pts), and KOHC (+0.98pts) provided marginal support.
Sector-wise, Commercial Banks (-807.78pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-392.41pts), Fertilizer (-356.52pts), Cement (-329.52pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (-168.27pts) weighed heavily on the index.
The benchmark received negligible support from Synthetic & Rayon, Woollen, Leasing Companies, Textile Weaving, and Vanaspati & Allied Industries.
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 102,295.04, down 2,026.36 points or 1.94%.
Total market volume increased to 628.67 million shares from 477.67m in the previous session, while traded value rose by Rs4.38bn to Rs27.02bn.
A total of 424,887 trades were reported across 499 companies, with 58 closing up, 406 down, and 35 remaining unchanged.
