[Pakistan Invites Delegates from Twelve Nations to Economic Forum Emphasizing Inclusive Growth and Sustainability]
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host a two‑day international economic conference next week, bringing together delegates from over twelve nations to tackle sustainable solutions for poverty and advance inclusive economic growth. The Information Ministry announced the summit for October 13–14 in Islamabad.
The delegations will meet to explore climate‑resilient policies that aim to eradicate poverty, foster equitable development, and strengthen livelihood security through collaborative dialogue, knowledge sharing, and cross‑sector coordination.
The statement omitted specific member countries, noting the event’s purpose is to review progress in anti‑poverty measures, exchange evidence‑based strategies, and deepen partnerships among state agencies, development partners, and local communities.
Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation Syed Imran Ahmad Shah highlighted that the conference offers a platform to gauge poverty‑reduction achievements, consolidate actionable insights, and bolster cooperation between government bodies, NGOs, and grassroots actors. He stressed the goal of translating policy objectives into tangible development outcomes.
United Nations statistics reveal that approximately 29 % of Pakistan’s populace currently resides below the poverty line—rising from 21.9 % six years earlier. Facing persistent poverty, the nation continues to pursue sustainable economic models that can support millions. Compounding the challenge, frequent floods and droughts have repeatedly degraded agricultural yields, heightening vulnerability for at‑risk families.
