On Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif cautioned that India is increasingly resorting to covert tactics and proxy operations to undermine peace and stability in Pakistan.
Speaking at the passing‑out parade at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi during a one‑day visit to the city, he added that Pakistan is navigating a complex security environment fraught with both international and domestic threats. He noted that our eastern neighbour, which suffered a humiliating conflict last May, is employing covert strategies and proxies to erode the hard‑earned peace and stability within our nation.
The prime minister emphasized that the Pakistani armed forces remain steadfast in confronting foreign‑sponsored terrorism emerging from the western borders, while the entire nation stands united with its brave defenders. He reiterated a collective resolve to defeat nefarious designs, yet continues to pursue peace, dialogue, and diplomacy to resolve outstanding disputes.
He affirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to supporting the causes of Kashmiris, Gazans, and Palestinians.
Addressing the graduating cadets, he noted that they are joining the Pakistan Navy at a time of profound transformation and unprecedented opportunity.
With the maritime domain evolving, the navy is embracing cutting‑edge technologies, artificial intelligence, and unmanned systems to meet emerging challenges, and he urged them to uphold the values of commitment, courage, discipline, integrity, and loyalty.
The rank they presently bear carries immense responsibility. As they embark on this noble profession, he reminded them that calm waters do not test a sailor, nor do fair winds define a captain; it is the rough seas and strong winds that truly test one’s mettle.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Shehbaz arrived in Karachi on Saturday morning, where he was received by Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Information Minister Ataullah Tarrar also accompanied the prime minister during the visit.
