Israeli forces burned approximately 1 hectare of Palestinian olive trees in Burqa village, east of Ramallah, during an assault on Friday, as reported by local officials and observers.

Saleh Kanaan, head of Burqa’s village council, informed Anadolu Agency that dozens of occupiers assaulted the village while Israeli troops sealed primary and secondary routes, limiting Palestinian residents’ mobility.

Kanaan detailed that the agricultural land in the village’s southeastern sector—around 1 hectare of olive groves—was deliberately set ablaze.

Eyewitnesses confirmed heavy Israeli military presence during the operation, reporting detentions of multiple Palestinian youths and extended confrontations near residential areas.

Violent clashes erupted between locals and occupiers, though no injuries or further damage were immediately documented.

Since Oct. 8, 2023, Palestinian authorities state Israeli military actions have resulted in 1,173 deaths, 12,666 injuries, 23,000 arrests, and 33,000 displacements in the West Bank.

Activists caution that the escalating violence may facilitate Israel’s planned annexation of the West Bank, undermining prospects for a Palestinian state under international law.
