French police fired tear gas and clashed with protesters on the outskirts of Paris during the third weekend of nationwide demonstrations against the rising cost of living and poor public services.
France’s interior ministry reported that over 320,000 people took to the streets across the country, resulting in at least 290 arrests.
Police estimated that around 70,000 individuals participated in the demonstration in the capital.
Authorities made extensive preparations to prevent a repeat of the violence, rioting, and looting that occurred two weeks earlier.
