Peacock has given the go‑ahead to a Fast & Furious television series, set to debut before the upcoming final film, Fast Forever.
The inaugural Fast & Furious film premiered in 2001, featuring Vin Diesel as a street‑racing outlaw and Paul Walker as the FBI agent tasked with tracking him. The franchise has since produced nine sequels and several spin‑offs, with the concluding installment, Fast Forever, slated for release on March 17, 2028.
Earlier this year, Diesel revealed that multiple Fast & Furious projects were under development, among them a television series. Speaking at NBCUniversal’s Upfront event, he noted, “We’ve always been protective of these films, but over the past ten years fans have asked for more—more stories, deeper dives into legacy characters—and expressed a clear interest in seeing the franchise move to television.”
Deadline now confirms that Peacock has greenlit the series. While casting details remain undisclosed, Vin Diesel will act as executive producer, with the script penned by Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman. The show is projected to premiere in 2028.
Fast Forever is scheduled to arrive in theaters the same year, having been pushed back from an original April 2027 date. Diesel has hinted that the finale will bring back Paul Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, who was written out after Walker’s tragic death in 2013. He also noted that soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to appear in the film, stating on Instagram, “We wrote a role for him.”
Last year Diesel refuted rumors that the upcoming Fast & Furious film was facing difficulties at Universal, where reports suggested the studio aimed to trim the budget by reducing cast members and limiting international locations. He responded on social media, saying, “Creativity is the key to everything; if we uphold the integrity, everything else falls into place.”
He added, “What we’re creating next will honor everything fans love about Fast while taking them to new territories,” and emphasized, “Regardless of who finances the project, this family remains accountable to the audience.”
