The Pentagon announced today that the first U.S. military execution in more than 65 years will be aired live, marking a historic decision. Defense Secretary Peter M. Hegseth said the operation will be officially public. Former Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan opened fire at Fort Hood in Texas in 2009, killing 13 people. The execution is scheduled for December 3, 2026, at the military base. “Streaming the execution online amounts to a public trial and breaches the absolute prohibition on torture,” the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights affirmed on Friday.
