WASHINGTON: U.S. military spending on the war in Iran has exceeded $47 billion, more than 25 percent above the Defense Department’s July estimate, according to Pentagon data reviewed by Reuters.
The majority of operational costs went toward over $29 billion to replace expended munitions and more than $6 billion to replace military equipment. The figures do not clearly include estimates for repairing damage to U.S. bases caused by Iranian missile and drone attacks.
