On July 8, more than a year into his tenure as Balenciaga’s creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli presented his inaugural couture collection— the 55th in the house’s lineage—within the courtyard of the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris. The show evoked a sense of renewed vitality for both the brand and its designer, featuring bold hues, expansive proportions, and meticulous craftsmanship that resonated powerfully when experienced in person from every angle.
Piccioli reflected on the creative process, writing, “This collection is the result of a profound feeling.” He added that he and his atelier team collaborated closely, learning from one another and establishing a shared vocabulary that marries fresh insight with timeless concepts. Through experimentation and introspection, they refined each garment. He expressed deep gratitude to every team member for their dedication, noting that couture is crafted by those who live it.
