Pope Leo XIV announced on Sunday that he will undergo surgery in the coming days to remove a lung nodule detected at a very early stage.
“The doctors believe it is advisable to intervene, and so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to have it removed,” the 71‑year‑old pontiff said after the Angelus prayer, adding that the procedure was already scheduled for the coming days.
